Great idea, horrifying execution

Great idea, horrible execution.
Okay, so first I will say I love the concept. I received my first box today. It was a soggy, smelly, disgusting mess. The two ice packs were completely liquid, they obviously didn't survive the summer heat transit on the back of a hot truck. The two heads of lettuce were inedible, they were completely crushed, at the bottom of the box. The ends were moldy. Yes, moldy, with white fuzzy stuff. Half the apples and kiwis were crushed and soggy and dripping liquid. The box smelled up my whole kitchen with rotting produce smell. The onions were all crushed and soggy and moldy. I ended up throwing out 3/4 of the box! What a waste. I suppose if you live in NY/NJ area, then maybe this could work. But if you leave outside of that area - I'm in Miami, then don't bother.

The produce arrived soaking wet

The produce arrived soaking wet. Things I ordered were missing. Much had to be thrown out. I contacted customer service and they were good enough to give me a small credit towards another order. I gave it another go, and much the same. Most produce was thrown out the day they arrived or were moldy within a day or 2.
DO NOT TRY!

Delivery is terrible!

I think I need to cancel. 1st box came covered in sticky goo which after the fact I think was from someone else's ice pack that melted and leaked all over my box during delivery. I was refunded for that order so that was good. I've never gotten a box on the day I chose for delivery...which is my day off since I work 12 hours other days. Of course the pandemic is to blame. Right. And now I got an email that my box was delievered...it wasn't delivered to me. Not sure where it is. Get it together Misfit Market. It's not worth the aggravation!

Bummed Out

I've been a Misfits Market customer for just over a year. I liked the concept, and with the pandemic, wanted to make sure I would have access to fresh produce in case something went sideways at my local grocer.
The service was great for 9 months - fresh produce in the Mischief box ($22.00 plus shipping, every other week). I got alot of celery, apples, mangoes (yum), and root vegetables. I even got some items I had never tried before, so it challenged my eating and cooking to try new things. Something I considered a bonus.
But then things took a turn for the worst. It started with shipping delays. Ok, winter in the Northeast can be a bear, so I get it. But then there was a span of 10 weeks (five boxes for me) where fully half of the produce went into the trash immediately on arrival. Rotten, overripe, destroyed produce. Squash split in two, peppers that were clearly rotten with big black spots of rot. Lettuce that was also rotten. Mangoes (no, not them!) so overripe they were oozing a brown liquid and were impossible to pick up without them crushing in my hand.
I did reach out to the company, and got a small refund on the boxes, but I was already thinking that maybe, now that the pandemic seems to be easing, that I could cancel the subscription. And then I got THE EMAIL.
The email stating that they were changing their business model and doing away with the subscription boxes in favor of a more online grocery shopping model. The problem is they were telling me I wouldn't get a box unless I spent $30 on produce - $8 more than I was currently spending. Since I can't eat what passes the unpacking in the time between delivery and rot fast enough, this was no longer an economical service. I cancelled my subscription.
In my opinion, the company is a little too young to decide to wholesale change the business model that has been their unique selling point. Now they are just like their competitors. And they have let quality control go out the door, leading to a poor product. In my experience, this is a recipe for disaster. Take heed, Misfits.

Great quality and if something goes…

Great quality and if something goes wrong, the company will work with you. Misfits switching delivery vendor from FedEx was short term, so delivery has been flawless since then.

Disappointed

I was happy to try this because 'ugly' produce doesn't phase me in the least and I felt like I was helping to cut down on senseless waste. But the lettuce was going bad (all the outside leaves on one had rotted), the kale was yellowing, one of the tangerines had rotted and overall the produce was not fresh. Quantities were small-two bunches of kale was great but not yellowing kale. One bunch of scallions which I can get organic in the store for 50 cents to a dollar, three small apples. Also I understand substitutions but they substituted down instead of up which is not good business especially with a first time buyer. I got two regular potatoes, one small, one medium size (wow, thanks) instead of sweet potatoes and a small bunch of cilantro instead of frise which I was the most excited about and didn't get. I can get organic cilantro for $1.29 which of course is cheaper than frise. Even assuming bigger quantities I would have only saved a little bit but with these small quantities the grocery store is cheaper and fresher. Editing to add: I just noticed I didn't get the peppers or chard I ordered. Maybe one of the two bunches of yellowing Kale was the substitute for the chard and I got 3 cucumbers, maybe one was a substitute for the peppers. Hmm... almost looks like bait and switch.

I've had more negative experiences than…

I've had more negative experiences than positive. My first ever box was missing items I had ordered. On the upside: customer service was quick and very pleasant and gave a discount on my next box. Soon after, I received damaged product. Boxes were constantly arriving late. I received a soggy box after the ice bags had fully melted. Mold was forming throughout box and much of the product had to be thrown away. Then a box became undeliverable due to damage in transit. I cancelled my subscription but decided to give another chance after moving to a new city in hopes delivery would be on time. 1 box arrived after restart and it was just fine. No issues! Box number 2? Well, it's damaged in transit. Again. This is my 2nd or 3rd box paid for that will never arrive in just 2 months of starting subscription. Just wasted produce... While customer service has been good about refunding, I cant justify spending $35-$50 on boxes that arrive late, rotted, or never arrive at all and I end up having to go to grocery store anyway. I'll just shop at Publix and get produce there... I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this subscription. Cancelling again and not coming back. Such a shame. Misfit Market needs to improve their boxes so they don't fall apart in transit. Maybe be less ambitious about where they send to and ONLY serve cities that are within a certain distance of their facility. Can't expect a heavy and wet box to make it from NJ to FL without issues. Re-evaluation is necessary for them to succeed with less upset customers. :(

Bugs, mold, damaged items.

Been a customer for 18 months and have multiple issues with moldy, damaged items and items with live bugs. Cancelling. It’s an ongoing issue. I buy the same produce at the normal grocery and never had this issue, with the same exact brands from the same region.
It’s supposed to be discount but not damaged

They will keep your credit card info forever

I had a good experience with Misfits. The produce was good quality, and it was packaged well. What I do not like is that when you want to move on, they do not allow you to DELETE your account. I do not want my personal information and credit card information floating around out there waiting to be hacked. So... keep that in mind before you open an account with them.

Still waiting for my first shipment

Still waiting for my first shipment. Emailed a few days ago inquiring about the status and they gave me no information, just a vague excuse. When I immediately followed up with another request for a date, they just spouted off what was on their non updated page.
As of today, it's two days late and their page shows yet another delivery date and the information on the FedEx page has it still sitting in georgia with no movement.
I just cancelled and if you are considering this service, save your money and time and drive to the store.

Misfits entirely messed up a $140…

Misfits entirely messed up a $140 dollar order weeks ago and never replied to any of my 4 messages about it nor took any accountability. Forced to leave/ file a report with BBB as I can no longer trust their services.
